In a chilling account of the Pahalgam attack on April 22, investigators revealed that the terrorists had scouted the area weeks before the brutal massacre, preparing to kill. Intelligence reports suggest that the terrorists conducted a reconnaissance of Baisaran Valley, where the attack took place, in early April. The weather had delayed their plans, with local reports indicating that the attack was initially set to occur earlier, but rain on April 20 and 21 caused a change of strategy. On April 22, with foot traffic peaking, the terrorists struck.

Around 2:30 pm, the assailants began their killing spree, targeting tourists, primarily Hindu men, and asking them to recite religious phrases before executing them. Witnesses stated that panic broke out when the first four tourists were shot point-blank in the head. Survivors reported seeing two terrorists fire, followed by two others from a nearby zip-line area, ensuring that the crowd couldn’t escape.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the events further, questioning locals and examining CCTV footage from nearby hotels. The role of a zip-line operator has also raised suspicions after a video emerged showing him saying “Allah Hu Akbar” just before the shooting began. The operator, alongside a local videographer who captured footage of the attack, is now a key focus of the investigation.
