Srinagar: Terrorists launched an assault on an army base in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir late last night, marking the third such attack in as many days. According to police reports, a firefight is currently underway between the militants and security forces.

A joint army and police checkpoint encountered the terrorists in the Chattargala area of Doda. The exchange of gunfire is ongoing, with initial reports indicating that two soldiers sustained injuries in the initial confrontation.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a deadly attack in the Kathua district, where one person was killed and two others were injured by terrorist gunfire. Additionally, just three days ago, militants targeted a bus carrying pilgrims, resulting in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of nine passengers.

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu zone, overseeing the counter-terrorism efforts in Kathua, stated that the army base in the Chattargala area of Doda was assaulted late last night. The militants initiated the attack by opening fire on a joint patrol of police and Rashtriya Rifles.

An intense encounter has commenced in the mountainous terrain between the security forces and the terrorists. “The exchange of fire in the area is ongoing, and further updates are awaited,” Jain informed reporters.
