Thane: A two-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by his father in Kalyan after the toddler repeatedly avoided him during an ongoing marital dispute, police said.
The father allegedly became angry when his young son did not respond to him or come near him. In a fit of anger, he allegedly slammed the child and assaulted him. The toddler also suffered scald injuries to his fingers during the incident.
Child allegedly attacked after avoiding father
According to the complaint, the incident took place at the family’s home amid strained relations between the child’s parents. The father reportedly became upset because the child was avoiding him.
The situation escalated when he allegedly picked up the toddler and assaulted him. The child cried out in pain, prompting his mother to intervene and take him for medical attention.
Doctors examined the boy and documented his injuries, following which the mother approached the police.
Police register case against father
Police have registered a case against the father under relevant provisions relating to assault and cruelty to a child. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the incident and recording statements from those involved.
