Sources fear that several people might still be trapped inside the factory. The fire reportedly broke out after a boiler exploded at a chemical factory located in MIDC Phase 2.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing three loud, successive blasts originating from the factory. Authorities, including Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, have confirmed the successful rescue of at least eight people. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other concerned officials rushed to the site to assess the situation.

Expressing his condolences, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the incident at the Amudan Chemical Company in Dombivli MIDC “deeply saddening.” He assured that efforts are underway to treat the injured, with additional ambulances on standby. A coordinated response involving the NDRF, TDRF, and fire brigade has been mobilized to address the crisis.

The explosion caused a large crater to form at the spot. The blast also damaged adjacent factories and shattered glass windows in nearby buildings.
