Authorities near Kanchipuram have taken three individuals into custody—including two minors—in connection with a reported case involving a 16-year-old student from a government higher secondary school.

According to Dinamalar, the girl was given a beverage allegedly mixed with intoxicants. After she became unwell, the group reportedly took her to a remote area, where inappropriate conduct was said to have occurred.

Based on a complaint, officials registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The involvement of minors has raised deep concern among locals and child safety advocates.

Community members have expressed shock over the nature of the incident and the young age of those allegedly involved. Experts are urging parents, schools, and local bodies to stay more vigilant and engage actively in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
