An Indian worker from Tamil Nadu was killed in Kuwait after being struck by debris from an Iranian missile, highlighting the growing risks faced by expatriates amid escalating tensions in the region.
The victim, Santhana Selvam, had been working as an electrician in Kuwait for over a decade with an engineering and contracting firm. The incident occurred on March 30, when falling debris from a missile reportedly hit him.
Family seeks government intervention
Following the tragedy, Selvam’s family approached local authorities in Tamil Nadu and submitted a petition to the District Collector, requesting urgent assistance to repatriate his body for final rites.
The family has appealed for swift government intervention to ensure the process is completed without delay.
Second Indian casualty in Kuwait
Selvam is the second Indian national in Kuwait to lose his life in recent missile-related incidents. A day earlier, another Indian worker was killed after a missile struck a power and water desalination plant.
According to officials, the strike also damaged a service building at the facility, prompting emergency response teams to act quickly to contain the impact and maintain operations.

With this latest incident, the number of Indian nationals who have died in the ongoing Middle East conflict has reportedly risen to nine.
