A devastating road accident near Kottaiyur in Sivaganga district on Monday claimed the lives of two members of a family and left two others seriously injured.
The incident occurred when Murugan (39), the Village Administrative Officer of Salaigramam, lost control of the car he was driving, which then crashed into a roadside tamarind tree. His wife, Subbulakshmi (32), died on the spot due to the impact.
Murugan and his two young daughters — Mathivadhani (8) and Suvaiyazhini (5) — were initially taken to Ilayangudi Government Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later shifted to Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Tragically, Mathivadhani succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts. Murugan and Suvaiyazhini continue to receive treatment.
The Ilayangudi police inspected the accident site, initiated an inquiry, and registered a case following the incident.
