Chennai: Trisha Krishnan has shared her first reaction after Vijay officially took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10.

The actress attended the swearing-in ceremony held at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium and later expressed her happiness over Vijay’s major political milestone during an exclusive interaction with Times Now.

Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony marked a historic moment in Tamil Nadu politics as the actor-turned-politician assumed office after the electoral success of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

Trisha says she is “super happy”

Speaking exclusively to Times Now after the ceremony, Trisha congratulated Vijay and expressed her joy over the occasion.

“Congratulations. I am super happy,” the actress said.

When asked to share a message for the people of Tamil Nadu who supported Vijay, Trisha once again congratulated the public and supporters.

Before attending the event, the actress had reportedly said that she was looking forward to witnessing the important political occasion.

For the ceremony, Trisha opted for a traditional silk saree look.

Long-standing on-screen partnership with Vijay

Trisha Krishnan and Vijay have shared one of the most successful on-screen pairings in Tamil cinema over the years.

The duo has worked together in several popular films including Ghilli, Leo, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi.

Trisha also made a special appearance in a song in Vijay’s recent film The Greatest of All Time, popularly known as GOAT.

At the swearing-in ceremony, Trisha was also seen greeting Vijay’s parents, S. A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar.

Vijay promises corruption-free governance

During his first speech as Chief Minister, Vijay assured people that he would not misuse public money and promised transparent governance.

The actor-politician stated that he had not entered politics for financial gain and vowed not to tolerate corruption under his administration.

“This government will belong to the people, and together we will build a stronger and better Tamil Nadu,” Vijay said during his address.

His speech received loud cheers from supporters gathered at the venue.

Trisha’s upcoming projects

On the professional front, Trisha Krishnan is gearing up for the release of Karuppu opposite Suriya.

The film is directed by R. J. Balaji and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.

Karuppu is scheduled for theatrical release on May 14, 2026.

The film also stars Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in important roles.
