In a remarkable family milestone, twin brothers K N Anil Kumar and K N Sunil Kumar from the Vadakkathil family in Raman Kulaṅgara, Kollam, retired from the police force on the same day last Friday. Anil Kumar, serving as SI at the Kollam City District Crime Branch, and Sunil Kumar, SI at the State Special Branch Office, both concluded distinguished careers in law enforcement.
Anil Kumar, residing in the ancestral home at Raman Kulaṅgara, Kureepuzha West, joined the police in 1993. After nearly two decades in local police, he shifted to the Crime Branch, proudly completing 32 years and 4 months of service. His wife, N Sindhu, works as a Senior Clerk in the Insurance Medical Service Department. Their children include A. Nived, an Assistant Manager at IDBI in Thenkasi, and A. Nimesh, a BSc Forensic student.
Sunil Kumar lives 2 km away at Vishṇathukavu, Thirumullavaram. He joined the Armed Police’s 3rd Battalion in 1997 after initially failing the physical test in 1993. Over 28 years, he served at various police stations across Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kollam districts. His wife, A R Geetha, a Nursing Officer at the District Hospital, was honored with the prestigious 2023 National Florence Nightingale Award for nursing excellence. Their children are Akhil, employed in shipping, and Arya, an MBBS student.
Both brothers were honored with heartfelt farewells by their colleagues, marking the end of an era of committed public service.
