In two separate incidents reported from Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, men were found hacked to death in Hosur, Krishnagiri district, and Gobichettipalayam, Erode district, prompting intensive police investigations in both regions.
AIADMK functionary killed in Hosur
In Hosur, Harish (32), the Youth and Women’s Wing secretary (West) of the AIADMK, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants near Maruti Nagar late on Tuesday night. According to police, Harish was returning on his two-wheeler when he was intercepted and attacked with sickles.
Harish, who worked as a car driver and was also involved in real estate and money lending, was unmarried and reportedly in a relationship with a 36-year-old woman from Vanavil Nagar who lived separately with her two children.
Police said Harish attempted to escape after falling from his vehicle, but the attackers chased him and inflicted multiple injuries across his body before fleeing the spot.
Early-morning walkers from the nearby locality discovered the body and informed Hosur Hudco Police, who reached the site and sent the remains to Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Investigators are exploring multiple possible motives, including personal enmity, disputes linked to his business dealings, and other angles.
Separate murder reported in Erode
In another incident in Erode district, Vijayakumar (35) of LIG Colony, who was engaged in the iron scrap business, was found hacked to death at his residence in Gobichettipalayam on Wednesday morning.
Police said Vijayakumar was alone at home as his wife had travelled to her parents’ house. When relatives were unable to reach him over the phone, they went to check on him and discovered him dead on a chair inside the house, with multiple cut injuries.
Authorities have since begun detailed inquiries, with forensic teams examining the scene for evidence. Investigators are looking into Vijayakumar’s personal and business circles to identify potential suspects.
Community concern and ongoing investigation
The two murders, though unrelated, have caused concern among residents of both districts, with local police stepping up patrol and surveillance measures. Officials in Krishnagiri and Erode have assured that dedicated teams are working to trace the assailants and determine the motives behind the killings.
Police appeal for information
Authorities have urged residents with any relevant information regarding either incident to contact local police stations. Both cases remain under active investigation.
