Shillong: Two students of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) were seriously injured after a Maruti car allegedly driven by an intoxicated security guard of the institution hit them near the university campus. The incident, which has sparked outrage among students and staff, took place late on Monday evening, prompting immediate intervention by the police and university authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, the two students were walking along an internal road near one of the hostels when the speeding vehicle suddenly veered towards them. The impact threw both students several feet away, leaving them with severe injuries. Passersby rushed to help and alerted university officials, who then informed the police and arranged for emergency medical assistance.
Accident inside campus triggers anger among students
The incident has raised serious concerns regarding safety within the NEHU campus. Several students gathered near the accident site shortly after the incident, demanding accountability from the university administration.
