Two siblings die of suspected food poisoning in Kolhapur, Maharashtra

A tragic incident occurred in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, where a 7-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother died of suspected food poisoning, separated by hours. The siblings, Shriyansh Angad (4) and Kavya Angad (7), from Chimgaon in Kagal tehsil, consumed meat on Sunday and later ate cake in the evening.

Kavya began feeling unwell late on Sunday, complaining of nausea and stomach pain. She was prescribed medicine by a doctor and advised to rest at home. On Monday morning, her brother Shriyansh also started feeling nauseous and received similar treatment. However, Kavya’s condition worsened, and she was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening.

Shriyansh’s health deteriorated further, and he was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning, where he passed away during treatment. Tragically, Kavya died later that evening.

Assistant Police Inspector Shivaji Kare confirmed that food poisoning is suspected to be the cause of death. The authorities have preserved the viscera for further investigation.
