Ballia : Two school students were killed and 13 others injured in a tragic accident involving a pickup van and a parked truck in the Phephana area of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning, according to officials.
The victims, aged between 12 and 17, were students from a private school, Ballia District Magistrate Praveen Kumar informed PTI.
Police reported that the pickup van, traveling at high speed, veered out of control and crashed into the truck parked by the roadside near Kapuri Narayanpur village on the Ballia-Phephana road.
Yash Pratap Singh, 16, died at the scene, while Vishal Pratap Singh, 17, succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital, as stated by the DM.
The injured were taken to the district hospital, where two remain in critical condition. Senior police and administrative officials have visited the hospital to oversee the situation.
