The UP Police Recruitment Board’s chairperson was dismissed by the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday.
After a question paper leak prompted the cancellation of the UP police constable recruitment exam, Renuka Mishra, the chairperson, was replaced by Rajeev Krishna, an IPS officer, a few days later.
The exam was held across the state on February 17 and 18, with over 48 lakh students taking part.
On February 24, the state government canceled the police constable recruitment exam and announced that a retest will take place in six months.
A Special Task Force (STF) would look into the claims of paper leaks, the administration added.
Earlier last month, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also said that “there can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations” and assured strict action against “unruly elements”.
“There can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations. Those who toy with the hard work of youngsters will not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest action is certain to be taken against such unruly elements,” he said in a post in Hindi on X.
