KANNUR: Vigilance officials conducted a major raid on the residence of Muslim League National Committee member and Madayi Grama Panchayat President Kaiikaran Saheed in Mattul North on Thursday morning, following allegations that he had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A 33-member team, led by DySPs Suresh and Ramesh from the Kozhikode Vigilance Special Cell, arrived at the residence around 6 a.m. Key documents were reportedly seized during the inspection.

Simultaneous raids were also carried out at the residence of Saheed’s close associate in Mattul and at the Madayi Panchayat office. The operation follows a complaint lodged in 2021, which accused Saheed—also chairman of the Puthiyangadi Jamaat High School—of accumulating illegal wealth.

An initial probe by the Kannur Vigilance confirmed discrepancies in his assets. A follow-up investigation by another vigilance team further corroborated the findings, prompting the latest raid led by the Kozhikode Special Cell.

Officials stated that further examination of the seized materials is underway and additional steps will follow based on the evidence gathered.
