Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) announced the formation of a 28-member executive committee to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day functioning of his political party.
In an official statement, Vijay said the committee would operate under his direct supervision and guidance, focusing on strengthening the party’s organisational structure and ensuring smooth coordination across Tamil Nadu.
Key appointments and structure
The newly announced committee includes senior party leaders occupying crucial portfolios.
N. Anand has been appointed general secretary, while Aadhav Arjuna will serve as general secretary (election campaign management). K.G. Arunraj has been named general secretary (policy and propaganda), a post seen as pivotal ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
Other key members include C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, who takes charge as joint general secretary, A. Rajasekar as headquarters secretary, and A. Rajmohan, C. Vijayalakshmi, and M. Arul Prakasam as deputy general secretaries.
The party said this structure will help “streamline internal communication, accelerate grassroots work, and ensure accountability in political decision-making.”
A move to strengthen party organisation
The announcement comes months after TVK’s official recognition as a political party by the Election Commission of India (ECI) earlier this year. Since its inception, the party — led by the Tamil cinema icon — has been working to build its base across districts through membership drives, social outreach initiatives, and youth engagement campaigns.
According to sources within TVK, the formation of the executive committee marks a major organisational milestone, signalling that the party is moving into a more structured and action-oriented phase of its political journey.
Political observers say that with this move, Vijay aims to consolidate leadership within the party and prepare TVK for its first major electoral test, expected in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Background
TVK, launched by Vijay earlier this year, has been gaining traction among young voters and fans of the actor, who commands a massive following across Tamil Nadu. The party’s slogan of “Ellorukkum Vettri” (Victory for All) has resonated with sections of urban and rural youth seeking a political alternative.
The actor-turned-politician has maintained that his entry into politics is driven by a commitment to transparency, social welfare, and development-oriented governance.
Next steps
The executive committee is expected to convene its first meeting in Chennai next week, where members will discuss membership expansion, constituency-level coordination, and strategic planning for upcoming civic and state elections.
TVK sources indicated that district-level committees will also be announced soon to strengthen the party’s local presence and prepare the ground for election campaigning.
