Amid rising India–Pakistan border tensions, misinformation is spreading like wildfire. A viral video claiming a missile strike on Delhi Airport has been debunked by the PIB Fact Check unit.
What’s the Truth?
The video is not from Delhi but actually shows a gas station explosion in Aden, Yemen from August 2024. PIB confirmed that the clip has no link to current India–Pakistan developments.
“Old video falsely shared as missile attack footage. It’s from Yemen, not Delhi,” PIB Fact Check clarified on X.
Delhi Airport Status
The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport remains fully operational, though security has been tightened. Officials urge passengers to:
- Arrive early for added security checks
- Follow airline-specific flight updates
- Avoid unverified news sources
“Operations normal, but processing times may be longer,” said a Delhi Airport spokesperson, who also condemned the “irresponsible and fear-inducing” spread of fake videos.
🛑Airspace Closures
The DGCA has temporarily closed 32 airports across northern and western India till May 15, including:
- Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Bhuj, Jodhpur, Leh and others
- Only civilian flights are affected; military operations continue.
