A group of men has come under police scrutiny after a video showing reckless driving and dangerous stunts on Delhi roads went viral on social media, triggering public outrage and calls for strict action.
High-speed racing and risky behaviour caught on camera
The footage, reportedly recorded late on the night of December 26, shows several men travelling in four cars at high speed while performing hazardous stunts. In the video, some occupants are seen standing through open sunroofs, shouting and cheering as the vehicles race along busy roads.
The cars were also seen zigzagging through traffic while travelling from ITO towards Noida, posing a serious risk to other motorists, pedestrians and themselves. Traffic experts and road safety advocates have repeatedly warned that such behaviour can lead to fatal accidents, especially during late-night hours when visibility and reaction times are reduced.
Police respond after public outcry
The video was widely shared on X, where users tagged the Delhi Police and demanded immediate action against those involved.
Responding to one such post, Delhi Police stated that the Area Traffic Inspector had been informed and that the matter was being examined. Officials confirmed that they are verifying the authenticity of the video and working to identify the vehicles and individuals involved.
“Necessary action will be taken once verification and identification are completed,” a police official said, adding that traffic violations and endangering public safety are treated seriously under the law.
Strong criticism from social media users
Social media users strongly criticised the stunt, calling it irresponsible and dangerous. “Lives shouldn’t be risked like this for attention,” one user wrote, while others questioned the lack of concern for public safety and the safety of fellow road users.
Many users also urged authorities to impose strict penalties to deter similar incidents in the future, pointing out that such reckless behaviour often encourages copycat actions.
Renewed focus on road safety
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving and stunt culture on urban roads. Authorities have repeatedly warned that standing through sunroofs, racing on public roads and dangerous manoeuvres are punishable offences under traffic laws.
Police have urged citizens to report such incidents promptly and reminded motorists that roads are shared public spaces where safety must take priority over thrill-seeking.
