India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. The treaty suspension is being seen as a strong retaliatory move, with experts warning of a potential water crisis in Pakistan, a downstream nation reliant on these river systems.

Amid this escalating tension, a viral video featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has stirred reactions online. The clip shows Indian fans jokingly sending a package of water bottles labeled, “To Hania Aamir, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. From India.” The video, which has racked up millions of views, shows the senders laughing as they pack the bottles, apparently mocking Pakistan’s possible water woes.

Social media users have been divided in their responses. Some found the video humorous. One user wrote, “We just want her to stay hydrated.” Others criticised the act, calling it inappropriate under the circumstances. “So unfunny,” one comment read. Another added, “This is not the time to joke.”

Adding to the controversy, Instagram accounts of several high-profile Pakistani actors, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, and Ali Zafar, are now inaccessible in India. Users attempting to view their profiles see the message: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”

The digital ban and treaty suspension come amid a sharp deterioration in India-Pakistan relations, with public sentiment and policy measures reflecting a hardened stance in the wake of the deadly terror attack.
