A novel service offering a “digital photo snan” at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has quickly captured attention online. Deepak Goyal, a businessman from Prayagraj, has introduced an innovative way for devotees to participate in the holy dip ritual, even if they cannot physically attend the event. The concept allows people to send their photographs via WhatsApp, which Goyal prints and immerses in the sacred waters of the Sangam on their behalf.
Goyal, through his startup Prayag Enterprises, charges Rs 1,100 for the service and guarantees completion within 24 hours. This unique offering has gained viral popularity, with many commenting on the novelty and convenience it brings to people who are unable to make it to the event but still wish to experience the spiritual significance of the Kumbh Mela.
This creative initiative has sparked a range of reactions on social media, with some finding it amusing, while others see it as a clever fusion of tradition and modern technology. The Kumbh Mela, recognized as the world’s largest religious gathering, began on January 13 and will run until February 26, attracting millions of participants. This digital innovation, blending spirituality and technology, has now made it easier for more people to engage with this grand event, marking a fresh approach to pilgrimage in the digital era.
