Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that although the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc did not stake claim to form the government as of now, it remains a possibility in the future. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, said that her party will adopt a “wait and watch” approach, expressing a desire to see the current BJP-led NDA government, which she described as “weak and unstable,” ousted from power.

Addressing reporters after a meeting of newly-elected TMC MPs, Banerjee highlighted the mandate for change in the country, suggesting that the recent election outcome was a reflection of the people’s desire for a new leadership. She indicated that the mandate was against the re-election of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, advocating for an alternative leader to assume the role.

Asserting her party’s stance, Banerjee declared that the TMC would abstain from attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new government, criticizing the BJP’s alleged undemocratic and illegal formation of the government. She underscored the possibility of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc staking a claim to form the government in the future, urging patience and observation of the unfolding political scenario.

Expressing her sentiments towards the current government, Banerjee voiced her satisfaction at the prospect of seeing what she termed an “unstable and weak” administration removed from power.

Additionally, Banerjee revealed that TMC MPs in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would actively pursue the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), aligning with the party’s ongoing efforts to address contentious legislative issues.
