A shocking incident has emerged from Haryana’s Faridabad where a pregnant woman was allegedly forced to deliver her baby in the parking area of a government hospital after her family reportedly found the main gate locked and no medical staff available during the emergency.
The incident reportedly took place around 1:40 am on Sunday at the 30-bed First Referral Unit Hospital in Sector 3, Faridabad.
According to the family, the woman, identified as Balesh from Badoli village, was rushed to the hospital after she went into labour. However, upon reaching the facility, relatives allegedly found the main entrance locked and no doctors or nurses available to assist them.
Family members claimed they repeatedly knocked on the gate and shouted for help but received no response.
The relatives later reportedly entered the hospital premises through another gate and searched for staff members, but no medical personnel arrived in time as labour pains intensified.
With no immediate assistance available, a female relative with prior childbirth experience reportedly helped conduct the delivery in the hospital parking area using a mobile phone torch for visibility.
Videos from the scene that surfaced online showed the woman lying on the ground while family members assisted in the delivery under torchlight.
After the birth of the baby boy, both the mother and newborn were shifted inside the hospital and are said to be stable.
Following public outrage over the incident, the health department ordered an inquiry into the matter. Preliminary findings reportedly revealed lapses in night-duty arrangements, including the absence of a staff nurse and another hospital employee.
Authorities later suspended two hospital staff members for alleged negligence.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over emergency healthcare access, staff accountability and the condition of public medical services in parts of India.
