A 32-year-old woman lost her life after falling from a scooter near Sitawali Phatak in Jaipur on Monday, police said. The incident has taken a serious turn after the victim’s husband lodged a complaint alleging reckless driving by a relative.
Fall from scooter turns fatal
The deceased has been identified as Sushma Sharma, a resident of Benar Road. According to police, Sushma was riding as a pillion passenger on a scooter when she fell near the busy Sitawali Phatak area. She sustained severe head injuries in the fall and was rushed for medical treatment.
Despite efforts by doctors, she succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Husband alleges rash and negligent riding
On Tuesday, Sushma’s husband filed a First Information Report (FIR), naming a relative who was allegedly riding the scooter at the time of the incident. In his complaint, he alleged that the scooter was being driven recklessly, which led to his wife losing balance and falling onto the road.
He stated that his wife’s death was not accidental but a result of negligent riding, and sought strict action against the accused.
Police begin investigation
Police said a case has been registered based on the complaint, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fall. Statements of witnesses are being recorded, and officials are examining whether overspeeding or sudden manoeuvring caused the accident.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further legal action will depend on medical and forensic findings, police added.

The incident once again highlights the risks faced by two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers, particularly in high-traffic areas. Police have urged motorists to follow traffic rules strictly and ensure safe riding practices to prevent such tragedies.
