Woman Dies in Fire as Husband Allegedly Torches Car in Kollam

A tragic incident occurred in Kollam, Kerala, when a 44-year-old woman lost her life after her husband reportedly set the car she was traveling in on fire. The incident, which also left another man injured, took place late on Tuesday night, according to police reports.

The man, identified as Padmarajan, allegedly pursued his wife’s vehicle in another car. He intercepted her at Chemmammukku, within the jurisdiction of Kollam City East Police Station, around 9 pm. It is said that he doused the vehicle with petrol before setting it ablaze. The woman, Anila, was overwhelmed by the flames and succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

The man who was traveling with Anila also suffered burn injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police have taken Padmarajan, a man in his late 50s, into custody. Authorities are now questioning him to uncover the motives behind this horrifying act.

This shocking incident has left the community in disbelief, raising serious concerns about domestic disputes turning violent. Investigations are ongoing, with the police examining all aspects of the case to understand the full scope of the tragedy.
