A 22-year-old woman recently took to social media to share how a digital investigation saved her from being trapped in an unhealthy arranged marriage. In a viral Reddit post titled “Arranged Marriage in 2025: Why Girls Must Run a Full Online Check (My Experience)”, she emphasized the need for online vetting before committing to marriage.
She explained that after expressing her discomfort with the marriage arrangement in a Reddit thread, a stranger messaged her, urging her to explore the man’s online history. Taking the advice seriously, she dug into his social media presence — and what she found was alarming.
“Although he had a polished career and a decent image, his private behavior was manipulative and emotionally volatile,” she wrote. “He dismissed consent, sent unsolicited explicit photos, glorified self-harm, and tried to dominate every conversation.”
To uncover more, she created a decoy profile using a friend’s ID. The disturbing findings confirmed her instincts — the man wasn’t who he seemed.
She immediately cut ties and informed her family. Her advice to other women: “Don’t get blinded by a job title or social standing. Scrutinize social media trails, old posts, and online conversations.” She concluded with a powerful reminder: “Stay alert. Ask questions. Guard your mental peace. Trust your intuition — if it feels wrong, it probably is.”
