KOLKATA: Police reported the discovery of a woman’s body on Saturday from the staircase of a building in the Garfa area. Following allegations from family members suggesting foul play, the woman’s live-in partner and her elder sister have been detained for questioning.
Initial investigations indicate that the 37-year-old woman and her sister had been residing in her partner’s flat since Thursday, where they reportedly consumed alcohol together. A senior officer from the Garfa police station stated, “On late Friday night, while descending the stairs, she allegedly fell and sustained injuries. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bangur Hospital.”
Authorities have launched an investigation and are actively questioning both the live-in partner and the sister regarding the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. “Although the woman was married, she was not living with her husband. We are examining all aspects of the case,” the police added.
