A woman in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has accused her husband and in-laws of subjecting her to severe abuse and harassment. Allegations include coercion into engaging in physical relations with her mother-in-law, which she resisted, resulting in a violent attack where she sustained five cuts on her arm needing stitches. The incidents began soon after her marriage to Alok Upadhyay from Ghazipur district in 2022.

She also claims her sister-in-law confiscated her clothes, forcing her to wear the same garments for a month while confined to a room. Alongside these abuses, she alleges persistent demands for dowry and physical assaults.

The situation reportedly escalated after she gave birth to a son in 2023, with her husband questioning the child’s legitimacy and assaulting her. She was temporarily expelled from the house but later allowed back after intervention from neighbors.

Following a failed attempt at reconciliation on June 7, when a meeting at her in-laws’ house ended in a scuffle, the woman returned to her maternal home in Agra. The police have filed a case based on her complaint and are currently investigating the matter.
