Mumbai: In another tragic incident of hit-and-run in Maharashtra, a woman lost her life in Nashik on Tuesday when she was struck by a speeding car. The chilling CCTV footage from a nearby camera captured the moment a white hatchback collided with her from behind, throwing her 15-20 meters into the air.
Following the accident in the Gangapur area around 5 pm, the driver fled the scene. Two bystanders rushed to help the woman, but despite being taken to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Police have since detained two individuals in connection with the incident.
This comes just days after another fatal incident involving a speeding BMW in Mumbai’s Worli, where a couple on a motorcycle were hit. The collision resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, who was returning home with her husband after buying groceries.
The driver of the BMW, Mihir Shah, the son of politician Rajesh Shah affiliated with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, allegedly dragged the woman for 1.5 kilometers after the collision. According to CCTV footage, Shah then reportedly switched seats with his driver, removed the woman’s body from under the car, and abandoned it on the road before driving away.
Shah, along with his father and the driver, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
