A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from South Delhi, where a woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a heated argument.

The victim, Poonam, was found critically injured at her residence in Pul Prahladpur after being struck on the head with a mini LPG cylinder.

Dispute turns fatal

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday night during a domestic dispute between Poonam and her husband, Suresh.

Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing her screams and, with the help of the landlord, forced the door open. Inside, they found the victim lying on the floor with the cylinder nearby, while the accused was reportedly sitting with their infant child.

Victim declared dead

Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information and rushed Poonam to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

The accused was taken into custody from the spot.

Investigation underway

Initial findings suggest that the fatal assault occurred during an argument, though the exact motive is yet to be established.

Police have secured the scene and initiated a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident.

Pattern of concern

This is the second such incident reported within a week in the region, following a similar case in Gurugram where a young woman was allegedly killed using a gas cylinder after a domestic altercation.

The recurrence of such cases has raised concerns about the growing instances of domestic violence and the need for stronger awareness and intervention mechanisms
