A woman has approached the Calcutta High Court after allegedly being molested at gunpoint by a man who broke into her house in Lake Gardens on July 15. The victim, whose husband is a bureaucrat, claims the incident followed an earlier attempt by the accused to molest her while she was returning home from work around 11:30 pm. The woman managed to escape the initial assault but alleges that the next morning, the accused forcibly entered her home, held a gun to her head, and molested her.
During the hearing on Wednesday, Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj’s bench expressed concern over the case and directed that the investigation continue under the supervision of an assistant commissioner of police. The High Court has asked for a progress report to be presented at the next hearing on August 23. The woman has accused the local police of inaction in her plea for justice.
