India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has inaugurated a brand-new 12-classroom academic block at the Government High School in Thirukallimedu, Kancheepuram, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The company continues to prioritise education through its CSR efforts in India, along with key initiatives in healthcare, road safety, and environmental sustainability. This newly established campus is Yamaha’s most extensive project in the education sector to date.
The school structure includes 12 well-equipped and furnished classrooms, a separate kitchen block, gender-specific restroom facilities, and a state-of-the-art computer lab to promote digital learning. The facility also incorporates green features such as a 10 kW solar power unit, systems for harvesting rainwater, and a reinforced concrete water storage sump. It is enclosed by a 550-metre-long boundary wall to ensure security.
This project marks the fourth such school built by Yamaha in the Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai regions over the last four years, demonstrating the company’s sustained commitment to rural educational infrastructure.
The initiative is in collaboration with Tamil Nadu’s “Namma School Namma Ooru Palli” (Our School, Our Village School) campaign, which aims to strengthen public education. The opening ceremony saw the presence of senior government dignitaries alongside Yamaha Motor India Group’s top executives, including Chairman Itaru Otani, Director Atsushi Nagashima, and Vice President S. Kumar.
The event was celebrated by the local community, with students and parents expressing joy as Yamaha gifted school bags and stationery kits—strengthening ties and building educational momentum.
