At the funeral of Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav, a young officer who tragically lost his life in a Jaguar jet crash near Jamnagar, Gujarat, the atmosphere was heavy with sorrow. His fiancée, Saniya, recently engaged to him just days prior, broke down in tears, pleading, “Just once, let me see his face… I’m so proud of him.” Their wedding was scheduled for November, and preparations had already begun at his home in Bhalaki Majra, where he was cremated with full military honours.
An emotional video from the service captured Saniya sobbing, whispering through tears, “You said you’d come to take me, my love… you promised.” The Indian Air Force conducted a solemn ceremony with reversed arms and a gun salute as his mortal remains reached Rewari early that morning.
His mother, Sushila Yadav, overcome with grief, yet strong in spirit, said, “I take pride in my son. Every mother should raise children who are ready to protect the nation. He feared nothing.” Her voice trembled as she spoke of his courage and legacy.
His father, Sushil Yadav, revealed that Siddharth had dreamed of becoming the Chief of Air Staff. “He was our fourth generation in uniform. We had already booked venues for the wedding. I heard he could’ve bailed out but chose not to, to save lives.”
The ill-fated aircraft suffered a technical issue during a night sortie. The crew acted swiftly to avoid endangering nearby civilians.
