A heart-warming encounter between an Indian air veteran and an Ola cab driver has gone viral, reminding people that dignity of work and shared responsibility matter more than titles.
Two captains, one shared purpose
The moment was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Nitin Welde, an air veteran and helicopter consultant in civil aviation. He posted a photo of an Ola cab driver, Gopal, standing proudly beside a helicopter parked across the road.
Welde recalled asking the driver where he was waiting. Gopal replied simply that he was parked opposite the helicopter. When Welde suggested clicking a picture near it, Gopal hesitated and asked if it was allowed.
“Tell security Captain Nitin has called,” Welde told him.
That’s when the moment turned unforgettable.
“Mi pan car cha captain!”
Hearing the word captain, Gopal’s face lit up. In Marathi, he replied:
“Wah sir, lai bhari tumhi capt and mi bhi car cha captain!”
(“Wow sir, you are a captain and I am a car captain too!”)
The simple line struck a deep chord online.
Welde later reflected in his post:
“At the core of our individual responsibility, we both ensure our passengers have a safe journey. We must know our machines well and make the ride enjoyable.”
