A 20-year-old man lost his life and his colleague sustained injuries after their motorcycle fell into a ditch in the Jaitpur Pusta area of southeast Delhi late Saturday night. Police said the accident allegedly occurred while the two were trying to escape a group of stray dogs.

Bike loses control near Jaitpur Pusta

The deceased has been identified as Tushar Kumar, a compounder at a local clinic and a resident of JJ Colony, Madanpur Khadar, Kalandi Kunj. The injured rider, Sudhakar Singh (29), a pharmacist and medical practitioner from the same locality, is currently undergoing treatment. Police said the two were colleagues and close friends.

The incident took place near Shri Ram Chowk, towards the Yamuna side, about 200 metres from Pusta Road, at around 11.30 pm.

Dogs allegedly chased the motorcycle

According to the FIR registered at Kalandi Kunj Police Station, Singh told police that the two had gone out in search of his cousin following a domestic dispute. During the ride, four to five dogs reportedly started running towards their motorcycle.

Police said Singh claimed Tushar accelerated to escape the dogs, but the motorcycle’s headlight was not functioning. The vehicle reportedly climbed onto a pile of mud and plunged into a nearby ditch. Singh jumped forward and fell on his hands, while Tushar’s forehead hit the ground.

Tushar was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Case registered against rash driving

Police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence) and 125 (endangering life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Separate fatal accident in south Delhi

In a separate incident, a 58-year-old tailor, Fakeere Khan of Devli Extension, was killed after being run over by a water tanker tractor on Tigri Road on Sunday evening. Police said the driver, Rahul (30), has been arrested, and a case registered at Tigri Police Station.
