A young man allegedly died by suicide after his parents reportedly refused to buy him a new mobile phone, police said.

The deceased was identified as K. Sai Kumar. According to officials, Sai Kumar had recently damaged his mobile phone and had been repeatedly asking his parents to purchase a new one.

Police said a disagreement reportedly took place at home after his parents declined the request, following which the youth allegedly took the extreme step.

Family members later found him unresponsive and alerted authorities. He was rushed for medical assistance but was declared dead.

The tragic incident has left the family and local residents in shock. Relatives said the youth had been emotionally disturbed after the argument regarding the phone purchase.
