A shocking incident of alleged kidnapping in broad daylight was reported from Kasaragod town on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a large-scale police manhunt across state borders and raising serious concerns over public safety in the busy urban area.

According to preliminary information, a youth was forcibly abducted by unidentified persons who arrived in an Andhra Pradesh-registered car. The incident occurred in full public view, leaving residents and passers-by stunned.

Abduction caught attention of locals

Eyewitnesses said the victim was dragged into the vehicle despite attempting to resist, after which the car sped away from the spot. Some locals reportedly alerted the police immediately, following which officers rushed to the scene and began collecting details.

Police sources said CCTV footage from nearby establishments and traffic junctions is being analysed to trace the route taken by the vehicle and identify those involved.

Interstate probe launched

Given the Andhra Pradesh registration of the car, police have intensified surveillance and alerted neighbouring states. Checkposts along Kerala–Karnataka and Kerala–Tamil Nadu borders have been placed on high alert as part of the coordinated search operation.

Senior police officials confirmed that special teams have been formed to track the suspects and rescue the kidnapped youth at the earliest.

Motive yet unclear

The motive behind the kidnapping is still not clear. Investigators are examining whether the incident is linked to personal disputes, financial issues, or organised crime. Police said statements from family members and acquaintances of the victim are being recorded to establish possible leads.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to the vehicle or the suspects.

Safety concerns in busy towns

The incident has sparked anxiety among residents, as the kidnapping took place during peak afternoon hours in a crowded area. Locals have demanded increased police patrolling and quicker response mechanisms to prevent such crimes.

Police assured that all efforts are being made to trace the culprits and that strict action will follow once they are apprehended.
