Kankanady Police Rescue Kidnapped Toddler in Swift Two-Hour Operation
In a swift and coordinated operation, the Kankanady Town Police cracked a kidnapping case within two hours after a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was kidnapped near the Botanical Garden of the Forest Department in Alape, Padil, Mangaluru. The incident occurred on the evening of August 31.
The child was walking in front of the Forest Department building when the accused, Aneesh Kumar, abducted her. Aneesh Kumar, 49, from Kandathil, Muthuvayal, Tatapilly, Paravur Post, Ernakulam District, Kerala, had been traveling after a quarrel with his family. He left for Mumbai on August 28, initially planning to board a connecting train from Goa. However, after missing the connection, he traveled to Mangaluru, where he saw the girl alone and decided to kidnap her, reportedly driven by his desire to have a daughter, which he lacked.
Upon receiving the complaint about the abduction, the Kankanady Town Police quickly registered a case and initiated an investigation. Information was obtained that the accused had boarded a train from Mangaluru Junction heading towards Kasargod. The police, under the guidance of PSI Shivakumar K, immediately informed the Kasargod Railway Police, who acted swiftly to intercept the train. The combined efforts led to the successful apprehension of Aneesh Kumar in Kasargod. The kidnapped child was safely rescued and reunited with her parents.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, with directives from DCP (Law and Order) Siddharth Goel, DCP (Crime and Traffic) Dinesh Kumar, and ACP (South Division) Dhanya Nayak. The Kankanady Town Police Station team, led by Inspector T D Nagaraj, including PSI Shivakumar, ASI Ashok, and officers Ashith D’Souza, Kushal Hegde, Raghavendra, and Pooja, played a crucial role in resolving the case quickly.
Aneesh Kumar has been remanded to judicial custody following his arrest.
