Mangaluru: The third episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s brand-new show titled ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was held on Sunday January 16 at 8.00 pm IST.
The guest for the evening was Rohini Ananth, Bharatanatyam artiste and teacher. Floyd Kiran was the host for the event.
Giving the introduction on her journey, Rohini Ananth said, “Post father’s transfer to Bengaluru, the place turned out to be one of my favourites. It gave me opportunities which I was not available back in Hassan.
Reminscing her journey of being a dancer, she said it began with my mother’s dream. In a fair at Hassan, my mother witnessed a dance performance by actress Hema Malini and thus nursed a dream to become a dancer. But hailing from an Orthodox family my mom became unsuccesful in make her dream come true. But she sowed her dream in me, her daughter.
She added, when studies and anchoring became priorities, dance took a back seat. And from there, post marriage it was my mother-in-law who brought me back into the track.
Answering in ‘celebrity favouries’ session she said, introducing a life into this world, that is giving birth to my son was the happiest moment in my life. At the sametime, she said losing her father was the most difficult phase of her life.
When asked about one of her life regrets she said, When we expect, we regret. Following my dad’s words to ‘Flow with the wind’, I stopped expecting and so have no regrets in life.
Stating that, singing is one among her other hobbies apart from dance she showcased her singing talent with Devaranama.
When asked about her dream she noted, several dancers have taken a backfoot failing to bear the cost involved in dance performance. It is my dream and duty to do a research on this and find a way out to facilitate easy accessibility.
She also aims in facilitating a free dance tutoring to the kids who lack opporunity to learn the art because of financial crisis.
Giving insight into the regional differences existing in Bharatanatyam, she emphasised the viewers to attend live session of any of the art forms Saying ‘Claps are the best encouragement an artiste receives’ she ended her talk.
