Abu Dhabi: Hemmeya Dubai Kannada Sangha in the United Arab Emirates is gearing up for the Dubai Dasara Sports and Cultural Festival on December 10, a grand event organized by the esteemed Hemmeya Dubai Kannada Sangha. Held at the Etisalat Sports Academy, this festival promises a day filled with sports, culture, and celebrations that will start at 8 a.m. and continue until 8 p.m. This marks the sixth year of the event, dedicated to the vibrant Kannadigas residing in the UAE.
One of the highlights of the festival is the recognition of Karnataka athletes who have achieved international acclaim in various sports. The Dubai Kannada Sangha will honour these sports achievers and also bestow the prestigious Dubai Kreeda Ratna Award. This event has a wide array of competitions. These include debates, quizzes, poetry, writing, rangoli, Antyakshari, Dasara Gombe competition, Kho-Kho, kabaddi, badminton, throwball, volleyball, cricket, athletics, football, table tennis, chess, and tug of war.
The inaugural meeting for the Dubai Dasara Sports program was in the presence of Madhu Davanageri the President of the Dubai Kannada Sangha and Hadiya Mandya the Vice President. Former Presidents Mamatha Mysuru and Sudeep Davanageri also attended, alongside Rafiq Ali Kodagu and committee members Vishnumurthy, Shankar Belgavi, *Varadaraj Kolar, Mohiuddin Hubbali, and sub-committee members Swathi Chitradurga, Nazira Mandya, Pratap Madikeri, and Ashraf Dakshin Kannada.
