Dubai: The 10th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s talk show Sunday Celebrity was held on Sunday March 6 at 8.00 pm IST.

The guest for the evening was Jerome Dsouza, a Life Motivator.

Kiran Nirkan was the host for the event.

The programme was live-streamed on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook  and YouTube channels.

Kiran Nirkan introduced the guest and welcomed him. Going back to the memory lane of childhood, Jerome said, he was the third out of seven siblings and favourite of his father. Like all kids, he was naughty at school which led him not to continue the schooling and head towards Mumbai along with his father at the age of 13. Doing some odd jobs in Mumbai for around 8 years his elder brother-in-law helped him to join Mahindra and Mahindra, Worli. He used to stay in bachelor’s club known as kood, in Byculla. He was always supportive towards his family (siblings) with whatever small salary he earned. He got married to Agnes D’souza on May 5, 1977 in Mangalore. Brought his young wife to Mumbai and started their new life by living in small house in Vikhroli, after which he shifted to Kurla where they were blessed with news of pregnancy for the first time. They were blessed with a son, Praveen on June 1, 1978 who was born in Mangalore, and then God again blessed them with a daughter, Pramila, May 6, 1980 born in Mangaluru again.

As his family started growing, Mahindra shifted its production unit to Mumbai suburbs, Kandivali and so did the residence. They started living in Dahisar, in a small chawl. One day, his father visited his house and was moved in sadness seeing the state how his loving son was living with his family. He got the news that his neighbour, who was a builder, was supposed to construct a building there, requested him to give his son a flat in the building, and the builder couldn’t refuse. Builder offered, one room kitchen apartment in the building. So, in 1986, Jerome D’Souza moved to a flat, with his immediate family. Once again, the builder came to extend his construction and offered Jerome D’Souza, one-bedroom house for a minimal cost but Jerome had to take a loan. In 1992, the family moved to a new house.

Slowly, to repay the loan, wife and children supported him by giving tuitions and living a very simple life. Kids started growing, and he never deprived them of basic amenities, roti, kapda aur makaan along with studies. He also supported son to complete his Engineering and daughter her graduation.

When asked about his favourites in celebrity favourites session, Jerome said he had no regret though he could not take up higher education which did not allow him to obtain promotions in his professional life. However, he said he does not have regrets in life as he considers every moment of his life as a blessing. He also mentioned Ganji–Chutney is his all-time favourite food.

When asked about his future, Jerome laughs saying, he is enjoying his retirement life with his grandchildren. He wants to be active in his life till his last breath and live simple life without being burden to anyone.

During his message to NewsKarnataka.com’s viewers he said, do not complicate life. Every opportunity is a blessing. We should be focused and dedicated in our life. Spirituality and hardwork will work together and that will create miracles in life.

Kiran Nirkan expressed gratitude to Jerome D’souza. Extending best wishes to Jerome, Kiran signed off the session.
