Dubai: UAE’s like-minded Konkani poets in association with Kavita Trust and organized the Konkani Poetry recitation program, Kavi Goshti at Rocky’s building hall at Karama – Dubai on March 27. Welcoming the gathering Nanu Marol expressed his happiness to Konkani poets of UAE for stepping forward to join together and share the poems by reciting them. He said & Kavitha Trust is working under the same motto of promoting Konkani poetry to the world. Nanu wished all poets to write more and more and make Konkani literature rich.

In his inaugural speech, movie producer, actor, singer, director of Merit Freight Systems Joseph Mathias who is also known as “patron of Artists” said, poetry is the most known and a claimed form of literature in the world. Konkani poets are never left behind to raise their voice for social injustice through their poems. Being a singer I am always considered a poet with the most respect as they are the ones who fill life to the song through their lyrics. He wished best compliments to all poets and assured his support to such Kavi Goshti in the coming days.

President of Mangalore Konkans and chairman of Reliable Fabricators was guest of honour for the Goshti. He wished all the best to poets and encouraged them to write more and more. Chief of poet Sannu Monis presided over the poetry recitation and presented his introductory poem. Poet Kishoo Barkoor, Annu Kulshekhar, Vivian Bajal, Alwyn Pinto Derebail, Roshan D’silva Vamanjoor, Melwyn Kalakul, Darrel Vamanjoor, Maxim Loretto, Robert Fernandes Udyavar, Preethy Seema, Seema Serrao Taccode, John Adyar, Anil Cardoza Belman, Kiran Nirkan, Sannu Niddodi, Janet Madanthyar, GSB Konkani poet Sudarshan Hegde, Goan poets Rupali Mouzo Keerthani, Suchana Naik and Milagrina Fernandes presented their poems.

As a special presentation, Konkani poet and lyricist Arthur Pereira presented different poems in a unique way and style. Rev Fr. Veeresh Moras expressed his views on poems, the need for poets to express current issues of the world through poetry and wished to continue the same spirit of Konkani Poems in UAE. President of Kavita Trust Kishoo Barkur presented a vote of thanks. He thanked guests, poets and everyone who helped with the Kavi Goshti. Also, he mentioned the association of Kavita Trust in such events in the coming days.
