Dubai: The 18th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s talk show ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was held on Sunday May 1 at 8.00 pm IST.

The guest for the evening was Vinod Sequeira, Founder, Ocean Kids Dance Group. Floyd Kiran was the host for the event.

The programme was live-streamed on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

In the beginning of the show Floyd Kiran introduced the guest and welcomed him.

Vinod Sequeira recalling his childhood journey towards dancing, said, “I was not a born dancing talent but I imbibed dance with my stubborn efforts.”

“We are the students of dance belonging to pre- internet era and it indeed was difficult to learn dance then as there was no proper floor or mirror setting for dance,” he said.

Reminiscing his tough times in the field he recalled, “Back in Mangaluru at the time we began no one supported dancers. Dancers were tagged as smokers or alcoholics. Coming abroad too was not an easy phase in the dance journey. I knew nothing except dance and so put in all efforts in the field,” he recollected.

In the ‘Celebrity Favourites’ segment Vinod Sequeira shared, “Other than dancing, cricket is my favourite hobby. Back in Mangaluru I had a fame in being an emperor in cricket matches.”

Our group from Mangaluru being selected for ‘India’s got Talent’ is the happiest moment, he shared.

I lost one of my friends who had been to deliver costumes for students performing in Bengaluru. He was just in his twenties and due to our three-day continuous schedule in Calicut we even failed to make it to his funeral, he recalled the saddest phase of his life.

“When being sad I try to divert my mind either by keeping quite or by travelling. I keep a distance from things that bothers me,” said Vinod explaining about his escape mode from sadness.

As a message to audience he advised, “Support the talent. Talent is a significant thing and supporting those talent is most essential.”

Floyd Kiran wishing the best regards to Vinod Sequeira signed off the session.
