Kannadiga MP Chandra Arya Announces Candidacy for Canadian Prime Ministership

In a landmark announcement, Chandra Arya, a Member of Parliament from Nepean, Ottawa, declared his candidacy for Canada’s Prime Ministership, addressing the Canadian Parliament in his native Kannada. This historic gesture resonated deeply with Kannadigas worldwide, marking a moment of immense pride for the community.

A Proud Connection to Karnataka

Arya, originally from Shira taluk in Tumkur district, Karnataka, emphasized his pride in representing the heritage of over 5 crore Kannadigas. “It is a proud moment that a person from Karnataka has been elected to Canada’s Parliament and is now speaking Kannada in this esteemed institution,” Arya said.

Concluding his speech, Arya honored Kannada poet laureate Rashtrakavi Kuvempu by quoting the iconic lines sung by Dr. Rajkumar:
“Elladaru iru enthadaru iru endendigu nee Kannadavaagiru, Kannadave Sathya Kannadave Nithya” (Wherever you live, whatever your circumstances, always remain a proud Kannadiga. Kannada is eternal truth).

Vision for Canada

Arya’s campaign focuses on tackling Canada’s “significant structural problems” and building a smaller, more efficient government. His vision includes:

  • Efficient Governance: A cabinet chosen on merit rather than diversity, equity, and inclusion quotas.
  • Bold Decisions: Implementing necessary reforms for long-term prosperity.
  • Future-Driven Leadership: Ensuring Canada’s growth for the benefit of future generations.

A Global Inspiration

Arya’s candidacy ahead of the Liberal Party’s meeting is a proud milestone for the Kannadiga community, blending cultural roots with global leadership aspirations. His message underscores the power of heritage and identity in shaping a leader’s vision for progress.
