Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, as part of its social responsibility, celebrated “Teachers Day” to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Vice President and second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who is also known to be a distinguished scholar and a teacher. The event was held at Vibrant Industrial Safety Center, Doha, Qatar. The felicitation of 25 member teachers teaching different disciplines in various international schools of Qatar at the maiden Teachers Day celebrations is a pleasant coincidence during the 25th year of Sangha’s establishment. Along with academic teachers, Kannada teachers who voluntarily conduct weekend language classes organized by Karnataka Sangha were also felicitated.

The Chief Guest of the event was the President of the Indian Cultural Center, Mr. Manikantan AP. The Guest of Honour was the Principal of Brilliant Indian International School, Mrs. Asha Shiju. Vice President of Indian Cultural Center, Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, Advisory Board Chairman, Mr. Mahesh Gowda, advisory board members Mr. Mannangi, Mr. Arun, Mr. Deepak Shetty, Mr. Madhu, and Dr. Sanjay Kudri, along with the Presidents of other Karnataka-based associations, reputed teachers from various international schools across Qatar, and members of Karnataka Sangha graced the event.

The Teachers Day celebration was officially inaugurated with the “Lighting of Lamp” by dignitaries. The tone for the whole event was set by the children of Karnataka Sangha performing the Guru Vandana song, which was excellently directed by Mr. Anil Bhasagi and Mrs. Sushma Harish.

President Mr. Ravi Shetty, in his welcome address to the gathering, narrated a Sanskrit quote about the importance of teachers in everybody’s life and dedicated it to all the teachers. Chief Guest of the Event Mr. Manikantan thanked Karnataka Sangha Qatar for joining hands with the Indian Cultural Center in the cultural events and also congratulated all the teachers present at the event. Guest of Honour Mrs. Asha Shiju, in her address, highlighted her lifetime experiences of being a teacher and how the experiences helped her to be a better teacher.

As part of the contribution to the literature club of the Indian Cultural Center, Karnataka Sangha President and Management Committee members handed over a collection of Kannada books to Indian Cultural Center President Mr. Manikantan and Vice President Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu.

Karnataka Sangha Qatar also held a farewell to Mrs. Sanjana Jeevan, Management Committee Member 2022-2023, as she was leaving Qatar and returning to India for good.

MC of the event was Mrs. Bhuvana Suraj, and the vote of thanks for the event was delivered by Mrs. Bhavana Naveen. All the MC members and volunteers, along with the President, worked hard towards the success of the event.
