Karnataka Police Debunks False Free Travel Scheme for Women
The Karnataka State Police Department has addressed and clarified a viral message circulating online, which falsely claimed that a new free travel scheme for women was being introduced. The misleading information suggested that the police would provide complimentary transportation for women between 10 PM and 6 AM and encouraged single women to call helpline numbers 1091 or 7837018555 if they needed a ride.
The police department issued a statement on their official Twitter account to dispel these rumors. They stated, “Watch out!! On calling the control room from 10 pm to 6 am, the message of free travel for women is circulating, which is false. Call 112 for emergency assistance.”
The police emphasized that no such travel scheme exists and urged the public to rely on 112 for genuine emergencies. The department reiterated that the viral message was a hoax and that there are no free travel services being provided at this time.
