In a disturbing case of abuse, S Vinutharani, a woman from Chikkamagaluru, has accused her husband, Dr. CP Ravi Kumar, and his mother, Chandramukhi, of subjecting her to years of physical and emotional torture. She claims she was deprived of food, scalded with boiling water, and poisoned over a period of four years. The abuse escalated after the death of Dr. Kumar’s father, leaving her isolated and trapped. Vinutharani eventually managed to send an ex-parte divorce notice to her brother, revealing the extent of her suffering.
Her brother, Vageesh Kunar, took immediate action, helping her seek refuge at Shakti Kendra and later assisting in filing a police complaint. Despite initial reluctance to take legal action, Vinutharani was pushed to do so after further abuse. The police have registered a case against the accused, who now face serious charges, including marital cruelty, wrongful confinement, and poisoning. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that justice will be served.
Vinutharani’s son, a 19-year-old MBBS student, was allegedly kept away from her and threatened by his father, leaving him unable to intervene. This heart-wrenching case sheds light on the harsh realities of domestic abuse and the importance of intervention in such situations.
