Belthangady: A case has been registered against six individuals, including Mahesh Shetty Timarody, in connection with the assault on Paneyalu Bhaskar Naik (50), a resident of Ujire village. Bhaskar Naik was attacked while returning from an interview on Timarody’s YouTube channel in Mangaluru.
The incident occurred on May 2 when Bhaskar Naik was returning home after participating in an interview for a Mangaluru-based YouTube channel. Around 5 pm, upon reaching Paneyalu in Ujire village, a group of six individuals intercepted him in a car. They verbally abused him, used casteist slurs, tied him to an electric pole, and assaulted him with stones.
Bhaskar Naik’s wife, Mamta, attempted to intervene, but she was struck by a stone thrown by one of the assailants, Pramod Shetty. In his police complaint, Bhaskar Naik alleged that upon spotting acquaintances Jayaprakash Shetty, Shankar Shetty, Timarodi Suresh Naik, and others approaching the scene, the assailants fled after issuing death threats.
Following the attack, Bhaskar Naik was hospitalized for medical treatment. The case was officially filed at the Belthangady police station on May 3, and authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
