The Department of Ayush has proposed the establishment of a 30-bed taluk hospital in Ullal, with a detailed project report (DPR) submitted to the government. An acre of land has been sanctioned near Konaje for this initiative. District Ayush officer Dr. Mohammed Iqbal stated that similar proposals for a hospital in Puttur are underway, with joint funding from central and state governments.
Additionally, the Ayush department has launched the Vidyarthi Chethana programme in three hostels in Mangaluru, focusing on the mental and physical well-being of students. The initiative includes counselling for students with learning difficulties and a four-week yoga training programme.
In response to inquiries about an Ayush Sports Medicine Centre in Mangaluru, Dr. Iqbal mentioned that a DPR has been submitted to the central Ayush department for approval. The centre, sanctioned under the National Ayush Mission, aims to enhance injury and fitness management.
On October 29, the district administration will celebrate the 9th National Ayurveda Day at Wenlock Hospital, focusing on the theme “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health and Women Empowerment.” Free Ayurveda camps will be held across the district by private Ayurveda colleges and clinics.
Dr. Ashajyothi Rai, founder of the Ayurveda Foundation, announced the creation of a selfie point at City Centre mall to raise public awareness, while Dr. Krishna Kumar from the Ayush Foundation highlighted diabetes detection and ECG testing camps, along with Dhanvanthri puja and kashaya offerings for visitors.
