Bengaluru: A 26-year-old beautician has accused her manager of stalking, physically assaulting her and issuing death threats after she repeatedly rejected his marriage proposal. The HAL police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused, who is currently absconding.
Woman alleges two years of harassment
According to the police, the complainant, a native of Assam working in Bengaluru, alleged that her manager, Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of ACS Layout, had been pressuring her for nearly two years to accept his love proposal.
She claimed that despite her repeated refusals, Rafiq continued to harass, abuse and threaten her on multiple occasions.
The woman further alleged that the accused created a fake Instagram account using her photographs and posted objectionable content to harass and defame her.
Alleged assault near Marathahalli Skywalk
The complaint states that about a week ago, the woman was returning home on a two-wheeler with her sister and a friend after work when Rafiq allegedly followed them and intercepted their vehicle near the railway track close to the Marathahalli Skywalk.
He allegedly assaulted the woman, and when her sister and friend attempted to intervene, he reportedly attacked them with a wooden log. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill all three before fleeing the spot.
Case transferred to HAL police
Following the incident, the victim approached the Whitefield police, who initially registered a Zero FIR. The case was later transferred to the HAL police, who have registered a case against Mohammed Rafiq.
A senior police officer said efforts are underway to trace the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
