Bagalakote: The modern life of mankind has adversely affected the environment. Amid such a situation, five cities of State have been selected for good and pure air quality by IQAir, an international institution.
IQAir has conducted a survey in 2021 at various cities in the country. As per this survey Mysuru, Haveri, Bagalakote, in all five cities have been recognised for good air quality.
Environmental pollution, wastage from the factories, dumping of garbage, dust, air pollution were the criteria for the survey. Based on the direction given by World Health Organization (WHO) IQAir has prepared a report.
Due to good roads, there is less dust storage, and scientific method of garbage dumping has resulted in Bagalakote City bagging good air quality recognition by IQAir.
Department of Environment and Pollution Control Board has set up Activator Air Quality Testing Centre at BVV Engineering College premises. The report was prepared by the Head Office of Environmental and Pollution Control Board at New Delhi and is based on practical and actual information collected by its reliable sources. As per this report, IQAir has given its report regarding the air quality of the City.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka District Environment Officer Rajshekhar Puranik said, “it is the happiest thing that Bagalkote has been certified for good air quality. Cement factory does not release their waste in the air directly. The roads are good here which doesn’t produce dust. As per National Quality Index Bagalkote has good air and environment quality.”
